Six Easy Ways to Upcycle a Sweater

Winter is definitely here and it's time for my favorites...sweaters, hot chocolate and snow days! And... it's time to add that warm and cozy feeling to my décor as well! The easiest and least expensive way to do that? Gather up your favorite old sweaters or hit the thrift store and you have almost all that you need! Here are my favorite six ways to upcycle sweaters!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT No-Sew Sweater WreathWant a fun and different way to welcome your guests? You don't have to sew a stitch to create my NO-SEW SWEATER WREATH. It's super easy and inexpensive, too! And check out the flowers...

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Sweater Flowers...also made from sweaters! You will find the directions for these felted wool flowers HERE. Be sure to check out the tutorial for the BURLAP FLOWERS as well.

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Mason Jar Sweater CandlesWant to add a warm glow to your home? Try my MASON JAR SWEATER CANDLES...sure to warm up your winter nights!

Of course, you will want to include a SWEATER PILLOW in your winter décor! It doesn't get much easier...or snugglier... than this!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Pottery Barn Inspired Stocking PillowDid you know that you can upcycle sweaters to create Christmas stockings? I added a few small ones to my POTTERY BARN INSPIRED STOCKING PILLOW. Or by creating mittens you could give the pillow a life beyond Christmas!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Easy Sweater PumpkinsAnd here's one you might want to save for fall....my EASY SWEATER PUMPKINS! They require only minimal sewing and last from year to year unlike real pumpkins!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Simple Farmhouse Valentine CenterpieceNot feeling crafty? Keep an eye out for sweater ornaments at Christmas and stock up! I found a collection of heart-shaped cuties half-price at a fabric store several years ago and added them to my FARMHOUSE VALENTINE CENTERPIECE...

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Rustic Valentine Wreath...to my RUSTIC VALENTINE WREATH...

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Farmhouse Valentine Mantel...and to my FARMHOUSE VALENTINE MANTEL! And stay tuned because I am currently working on another fun way to use sweaters. Hint...think snowballs!

  1. Thank you for this. I saved two of my husband's sweaters when he passed away, hoping to be able to do something special with them. The pillow is the answer.
